There you can explore her life and legacy with guided tours of her houses or a self-guided audio tour of the grounds. Visitors are encouraged to take the tour that best suits their interests, which costs around $8 for adults for the house tour. The grounds audio tour is complimentary with a house tour ticket, and tours are only open until December.

One of the tour’s called The Evergreens is a 50-minute guided tour that talks about Emily Dickinson’s life and work and offers a glimpse of the family’s lifestyle and interests. Here are some of the details supplied by their website that make this tour worth the stop.
  • Visitors will encounter Emily Dickinson the way "pilgrims" did in the 1920s and 1930s, when Martha Dickinson Bianchi, the poet’s niece, created a special room in The Evergreens for admirers who wished to learn more about the poet. Bianchi furnished the room with artifacts significant to her aunt’s story.
  • During the tour, visitors will spend time in the Emily Room and tour the rest of The Evergreens to experience the unrestored home of her extended family.
  • Offered throughout the day. Last tour at 3 p.m. on weekdays; 3:30 p.m. on weekends.

March Madness - Weekend Savings at the Captains House Inn

March tends to be a quiet month on Cape Cod. And understandably so - even the hardiest New Englanders find the snow to be just another shoveling expedition versus a beautiful white wonderland. Still, for those who can’t escape for a week in the Caribbean, the Cape does provide a retreat for those who need a quick getaway, if even to escape the cabin fever of their own home. The Captains House Inn has extended their winter mid-week special for the entire month of March to include weekends as long as one night of your stay includes a week night (Sunday-Thursday). A two night minimum stay is required to receive this rate. So, ditch your cell phone and lap top and grab a bottle of wine and a good book and revitalize at the Captains House Inn before you embark on your spring cleaning this year.

A Blast From the Past in Historic Deerfield, MA

Flashback to at least seven generations before us in a walk through Historic Deerfield located in the 330-year-old New England Town of Deerfield, Massachusetts. Back in the 1930's, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Flynt migrated to the small town wishing to restore as much of the beloved town possible. Nowadays, more than 25,000 17th, 18th, and 19th century items, which were made or utilized by America, are revealed in eleven old museum houses. These houses alone were constructed from 1730 to 1850 in a town that attracts many by downright age. With special events running constantly, tours, a library, and even cooking programs no person could possible go uninterested. If you're still hyped over the past after your visit, retreat to an inn equally as historic as the surroundings.

With twenty-three guest rooms, an authentic 125-year-old vibe, fresh and naturally raised cuisine, and plenty of conveniences, no other inn could compare to The Deerfield Inn. Each room is meticulously decorated one by one with complete services from private tub/shower bathrooms to high-speed internet access to flat screen DVD televisions to complimentary gourmet breakfast to even homemade cookies and tea served every afternoon. Very simply you can book your room and while you're at it, make a dinner reservation online and gourmand cooking will be awaiting when you prefer.
